Week 13 Preview

The House will hold floor sessions on Tuesday (12pm), Wednesday (10am), and Thursday (10am). The House has 30 bills and one joint resolution eligible for consideration on its calendar to begin the week. Expect S.2 (behavioral healthcare agency restructuring) to generate significant debate from the House Freedom Caucus. Some bills that will generate debate include:

  • H.3058 (disclosure of intimate images)

  • H.3930 (Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act)

  • S.2 (behavioral healthcare agency restructuring)

  • H.3127 (felony failure to stop)

  • S.74 (electronic records disclosure)

  • H.3276 (Hands-Free and Distracted Driving Act)

  • S.156 (fentanyl induced homicide)

The Senate will not hold floor sessions this week and will only meet in perfunctory session. The Senate has 25 bills (19 are contested),12 joint resolutions (2 are contested), and one concurrent resolution on the calendar. Bills received from the House, new bill introductions, and committee reports can be read across the desk.

One bill to watch during Week 14: S.62 (K-12 scholarships) is on the Senate calendar under Bills Returned from House. The Senate can amend the bill a second time and it is possible the House could concur in the Senate amendments.

Week 12 Review

House floor sessions consumed 14 hours, 14 minutes. The House passed eight bills and several congratulatory and memorial resolutions. Some legislation that passed the House last week included:

  • H.3927 (prohibit DEI activities)

  • H.3046 (online technological exploitation)

  • H.3045 (child sexual abuse)

  • H.3387 (unlawful occupants of property)

Senate floor sessions consumed 16 hours, 39 minutes. The Senate passed 11 bills, three joint resolutions, and several congratulatory and memorial resolutions. Some legislation that passed the Senate last week included:

  • H.3309 (Energy Security Act)

  • S.171 (waste tires)

  • S.269 (school district private security firms)

  • S.415 (kin-specific licensing standards)

  • S.11 (state employee paid parental leave)

  • S.425 (school-based meals)

  • S.307 (peer-to-peer car sharing services)
